Children at Work Day at U. S. SteelPRNewswire On Thursday, April 26, U. S. Steel employees will be giving their sons and daughters a firsthand look at the roles they are personally playing in today's high-tech steel industry. The day's activities will provide the youngsters a better understanding of their parents' workplace and introduce them to career opportunities in the steel industry. Children at Work Day activities are scheduled at the following locations: -- Clairton Works: 26 children and their parents will participate at
North America's largest coke plant in Clairton. (9:30 a.m. to noon
and 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.)
-- Edgar Thomson Plant: 30 children will participate at this plant in
Braddock where molten iron is made into steel. (1:30 to 3:00 p.m.)
-- Irvin Plant: 30 children will participate at West Mifflin plant
where steel from Edgar Thomson is processed into finished sheet
products. (1:30 to 3:00 p.m.)
-- Computer Service Center: 25 children will participate in activities
including Intranet scavenger hunts and creating web pages. (9:15 to
10:30 a.m. and 1:15 to 2:30 p.m.) Located at 1509 Muriel Street on
Pittsburgh's South Side.
