U. S. Steel Tubular Products Honors Jeffrey L. Ventura With Chief Roughneck Award

HOUSTON, Nov. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- U. S. Steel Tubular Products, Inc., a subsidiary of United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X), announced that Jeffrey L. Ventura, president and chief executive officer of Range Resources, is the recipient of the Chief Roughneck Award for 2014.  The announcement was made today at the 85th annual meeting of the Independent Petroleum Association of America. 

U. S. Steel Senior Vice President of Tubular Business David J. Rintoul presented Mr. Ventura with the traditional Chief Roughneck bronze bust and hard hat.  "Under Jeff's leadership, Range Resources shares many of the same values we have at United States Steel.  A commitment to protecting the environment, operating safely and engaging the communities where they operate are admirable qualities for any company," said Rintoul.  "Jeff has an unwavering commitment to the nation's energy industry. Jeffrey L. Ventura joined Range Resources in 2003 as chief operating officer, became a director in 2005 and was named chief executive officer effective Jan. 1, 2012.  Prior to joining Range, he served as president and chief operating officer of Matador Petroleum Corporation.  Before joining Matador in 1997, Mr. Ventura spent eight years at Maxus Energy Corporation, where he managed various engineering, exploration and development operations and was responsible for coordination of engineering technology.  Prior to his time at Maxus, Mr. Ventura was with Tenneco Oil Exploration and Production, where he held various engineering and operating positions.  Mr. Ventura earned a bachelor's degree in petroleum and natural gas engineering from Pennsylvania State University.

The prestigious Chief Roughneck Award was created in 1955 to honor the lifetime achievements of petroleum industry leaders.  Today, U. S. Steel Tubular Products proudly continues to present this important award, which is widely recognized as one of the industry's highest honors.
