U. S. Steel Tubular Products Honors Charles D. Davidson With Chief Roughneck Award

NEW ORLEANS, Nov. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- U. S. Steel Tubular Products, Inc., a subsidiary of United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X), announced that Charles D. Davidson, chairman and chief executive officer of Noble Energy, is the recipient of its Chief Roughneck Award for 2012.  The announcement was made today at the 83rd annual meeting of the Independent Petroleum Association of America. 

U. S. Steel Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Mario Longhi presented Mr. Davidson with the traditional Chief Roughneck bronze bust and hard hat.  "Over the years, this award has honored individuals who have pioneered continued growth and change in the energy industry," said Longhi.  "Chuck Davidson has more than earned the right to be called one of those pioneers through his efforts to transform Noble Energy into a dynamic company that is well-positioned to take advantage of existing and emerging opportunities in the industry.  These qualities and many others exhibited by Chuck every day make him a natural choice for the 2012 Chief Roughneck Award." 

Charles D. Davidson joined Noble Energy in October 2000 as chairman and CEO after serving as chairman, president and CEO at Vastar Resources, Inc.  A member of the original executive team that formed Vastar in 1994, he previously held a number of engineering, operations and executive positions at ARCO.  Active in numerous industry and trade organizations, Davidson is currently serving as chairman of the Independent Petroleum Association of America's Offshore Committee.  He serves on the Board of the Gas Technology Institute, on the Advisory Board of the University of Texas in Dallas, and with several Houston-area community organizations.  He is also a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the National Petroleum Council.

Mr. Davidson earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Purdue University and a master's degree in management from the University of Texas in Dallas. 

The prestigious Chief Roughneck Award was created in 1955 to honor the lifetime achievements of petroleum industry leaders.  Today, U. S. Steel Tubular Products proudly continues to present this important award, which is widely recognized as one of the industry's highest honors.
