PITTSBURGH, June 14, 2011 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X) today announced the appointment of Lisa A. Roudabush to the newly created position of managing director – product quality for the company's  North American flat-rolled product quality assurance organization.  Scott D. Buckiso, who currently serves as plant manager – finishing at Gary Works in Gary, Ind., will succeed Roudabush as general manager – Mon Valley Works.  Both appointments will be effective July 1.

In her new role, Roudabush will coordinate customer quality requirements across all of U. S. Steel's North American flat-rolled steelmaking facilities.  Her organization, which will include existing plant-level quality organizations as well as the customer technical services group, will serve as a direct link between U. S. Steel's customers and the company's operating facilities to ensure that customers' current and future product and product quality needs are being served with the highest quality flat-rolled steel.  Roudabush will be based at the company's corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh and will report to Senior Vice President – North American Flat-Rolled Operations Michael S. Williams.

Buckiso will be responsible for overseeing operations at the four facilities that comprise the company's Mon Valley Works: Edgar Thomson Plant (primary operations) in Braddock, Pa.; Irvin Plant (finishing) in West Mifflin, Pa.; Clairton Plant (coking and coal chemical operation) in Clairton, Pa.; and Fairless Plant (galvanizing) near Philadelphia.  He will report to Anton Lukac, who will be assuming the role of vice president – U.S. flat-rolled operations.

Commenting on the appointments, Williams said, "Throughout our company's long history, we have taken great pride in providing our customers with high-quality steel products.  In keeping with our long-standing commitment to continuous improvement in all aspects of our operations, we have elected to reorganize our North American flat-rolled products quality assurance group in order to capitalize on areas where we believe we can further differentiate ourselves from our competitors.  Lisa's extensive technical and operational expertise will play an important role in our efforts to further standardize flat-rolled quality procedures and practices, improve product flexibility at our flat-rolled facilities, and increase the speed of new flat-rolled product development.

"Scott is very familiar with our Mon Valley Works operations, having spent the first half of his career advancing through a variety of roles at two of those facilities," continued Williams.  "The additional operational and leadership experience Scott has gained from his European and Canadian assignments will be an asset to these facilities, which are consistently among our company's best performing integrated steelmaking operations."
