United States Steel Corporation Names Susan M. Suver Vice President, Human Resources

PITTSBURGH, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John P. Surma announced today that Susan M. Suver has been named vice president, Human Resources. The appointment is effective July 9. Suver will report to Thomas W. Sterling, senior vice president-administration.

"Sue's broad experience in the overall strategic development of human resources will enhance our ability to attract, develop and retain the highly talented individuals we need to remain competitive in the years to come," said Surma. "She is an outstanding choice for this vitally important position."

Suver, 48, who was born in Meadville, Pa., and raised in Arizona, holds a bachelor's degree in organizational communications from Arizona State University and completed the University of Michigan's Advanced Executive Human Resources Program and the Global Executive Management Program at the Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management. Most recently, she served as corporate vice president, Global Human Resources for Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: ARW), a $12 billion, global provider of industrial and commercial electronic components and computer products with 11,200 employees. She joined Arrow in 2001 as vice president, Global Organizational Development. Prior to that position, Suver served as vice president, Organization Effectiveness and Communications for Phelps Dodge Corporation.

She is a member of the HR50, the Human Resource Policy Association and the Society of Human Resource Management.

She is married and has two children. Suver and her family will relocate to the Pittsburgh area.
