DALLAS, June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X) announced today changes to its tubular products commercial organization structure following the completion of its acquisition of Lone Star Technologies, Inc., and its related companies. Scott M. Dorn has been named general manager-market development, and W. Steven Fowler has been named general manager-commercial. Both positions report to Joseph Alvarado, vice president-tubular operations. The changes are effective immediately.

"As we work to merge Lone Star's operations into U. S. Steel, we must pay special attention to our customers' needs to ensure their continued satisfaction," said Alvarado. "Scott and Steve have well-balanced backgrounds and significant experience that will aid our transition process and, most importantly, provide stability to the customers we serve."

In his new role, Dorn, 39, will be responsible for tubular product pricing as well as market development and analysis. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native graduated from Kettering University, formerly the General Motors Engineering and Management Institute, in Flint, Mich., in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He earned a master's degree in industrial administration at Pittsburgh's Carnegie Mellon University in 1995. Dorn began his career at U. S. S. Steel's Lorain Tubular Operations in Lorain, Ohio, where he was responsible for overseeing the facility's day-to-day operations. In 2005, he moved to U. S. Steel's headquarters in Pittsburgh after being promoted to his most recent position, director-commercial for tubular products.

Dorn and his wife, Audrey, will be relocating to the Dallas, Texas, area.

Fowler, 54, will oversee tubular product sales at U. S. Steel. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing. He began his career at Lone Star in 1975 as a sales trainee at the company's Dallas headquarters. During his 32-year career, Fowler progressed through various sales positions, spending time in New Orleans and Houston before returning to Dallas to serve in sales management. For the last 10 years, he has been senior vice president-sales and marketing for Lone Star Steel Company and was responsible for directing and managing all sales, business development, marketing and product development activities for line pipe, oil country tubular goods and flat-rolled steel products.
