Effective Feb. 1, 2007, James D. Garraux will assume responsibility for environmental affairs in his new role as U. S. Steel general counsel and senior vice president-labor relations & environmental affairs.

"Steve has done an outstanding job in overseeing our legal affairs and navigating and managing the increasingly complex world of environmental law for our company," Surma said. We wish him well in his retirement."
