U. S. Steel Automotive Group Launches New Website; Site Provides Cutting Edge Information on Steel Research and Development

TROY, Mich.

United States Steel LLC (NYSE: X) announced it has launched a new website -- -- designed to be the primary steel technology resource for the automotive industry. The site, created by the company's automotive group, contains innovative information on steel research and development along with descriptions of the mechanical properties and characteristics of current and emerging automotive steel grades, including DUAL-TEN™ and TRIP steels. The technical and commercial data on the website can be used by automotive engineers and designers to select the most appropriate material for a specific application.

"U. S. Steel is dedicated to serving the automotive industry and is continuously researching and developing new steel grades and processes," says John B. Peters, general manager-automotive. "Our new website was created to help automotive engineers, designers and purchasing managers gather cutting-edge information about products, grades and processes unique to the auto industry."

The website is organized into four primary areas: automotive steel technology, commercial/sales, automotive laboratory and customer log-in. The automotive steel technology section of the website provides comparisons of the mechanical characteristics of a variety of steels used in automotive manufacturing. In addition to information about U. S. Steel's facilities, quality policy and certifications, the commercial/sales section provides technical information about the company's sheet steels. The automotive laboratory area describes the wide array of mechanical and CAE testing available at the automotive center. Registered customers can log in to a secure area of the website for specific information about their ongoing relationship with U. S. Steel's automotive group.

Steel created the automotive center in Troy, Mich., to become the primary resource for the automotive industry and the technology leader in the steel industry," says Rob Beltz, manager of marketing for the automotive group. "This center gives us the ability to perform research using state-of-the-art equipment and computer-aided design. Information found on our new website will largely be generated at this new facility."
