Transtar Logistics Implements ADS Logistics Management Software Solution
Transtar Logistics, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Transtar, Inc., has chosen Alternative Distribution Systems, Inc.'s (ADS) logistics management software solution to provide web- enabled logistics management for Straightline Source, a new technology-enabled steel distribution business launched by United States Steel Corporation. Transtar, Inc. is a direct subsidiary of U. S. Steel.
Recently selected by Straightline to manage its transportation logistics, Transtar Logistics sought a comprehensive web-enabled software product to support this effort. The product they chose, LoMaS(SM), a logistics management system by ADS, has the ability to fully participate in the e-commerce network, a prerequisite for partnering with Straightline.
"ADS was selected over other software providers because of its expertise in developing systems to support the supply chain needs of the metals community," said Keith Jansen, president of Transtar Logistics.
ADS developed LoMaS(SM) to support its trucking, warehousing and intermodal business units. "LoMaS(SM) was founded in the deep metals logistics domain expertise of ADS and was ideally suited to provide Transtar Logistics the rich functionality required, short installation and time-to- benefit," states Stephen Fraser, president and chief executive officer of ADS. "Given Transtar Logistics' exceedingly high and broad requirements for a system to manage the e-logistics, and the care and scrutiny of their due diligence process, we are pleased and honored to have been chosen to provide our system to these companies."
LoMaS(SM) was successfully integrated into Transtar Logistics' operations and provides module functionality that includes load aggregation, rating, carrier load tendering, load acceptance, scheduling, shipment visibility and online notification of delivery.
Transtar Logistics manages Straightline's transportation logistics process using selectable LoMaS(SM) modules to provide transactional efficiency and control. "Securing Straightline's logistics business was one of this year's key objectives as we continue to grow our third party logistics," states Keith Jansen, president of Transtar Logistics. "The combination of logistics management expertise, leverage in the transportation industry and the software capabilities of the LoMaS(SM) system creates powerful and dynamic capabilities in the third party logistics market, and the first step in a strategic relationship between Transtar Logistics and ADS for use of the LoMaS(SM) system."
