U. S. Steel Tubular Products Honors Aubrey K. McClendon with Chief Roughneck Award

TUCSON, Ariz., Nov. 9, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- U. S. Steel Tubular Products, Inc., a subsidiary of United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X), announced that Aubrey K. McClendon, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Chesapeake Energy Corporation, is the recipient of its Chief Roughneck Award for 2010.  The announcement was made today at the 81st annual meeting of the Independent Petroleum Association of America.  

U. S. Steel Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer John H. Goodish presented Mr. McClendon with the traditional Chief Roughneck bronze bust and hard hat.  "Aubrey McClendon's success in this demanding industry, particularly in the field of unconventional resource development, is a tribute to his leadership skills and entrepreneurial spirit," said Goodish.  "Those qualities and many others exhibited by Aubrey every day made him a natural choice for this year's Chief Roughneck Award."  

Aubrey K. McClendon has served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer since co-founding Chesapeake Energy Corporation in 1989.  From 1982 to 1989, Mr. McClendon was an independent producer of oil and natural gas.  Mr. McClendon graduated from Duke University in 1981.
