Republic Selects UEC IT to Optimize Order Management ProcessPRNewswire UEC IT, a unit of UEC Technologies LLC (UEC) today announced that Republic Engineered Products LLC has selected UEC IT's Order Fulfillment System (UEC OFS) to improve its operating efficiencies. UEC OFS is a metal-specific order management system designed to increase efficiencies in the order-to-cash process. UEC Technologies LLC is a subsidiary of United States Steel Corporation. UEC OFS will replace Republic's current mainframe applications and will offer, in one integrated system, a more efficient and less costly solution to managing critical business processes from customer inquiry to invoice. UEC OFS will serve as the foundation of Republic's information systems as the company moves forward with a best-of-breed strategy for systems development. "With UEC OFS, the flow of information among our facilities will be tightly integrated and we will better connect with our customers and processors." Republic chose UEC OFS because of the system's value-added functionality designed specifically for the production of special bar quality (SBQ) steel, and UEC IT's solid track record in implementing systems in a steel production environment. "The UEC IT team has excellent knowledge of steel production processes and has successfully integrated UEC OFS to other business systems, such as i2's Factory Planner, that are currently in use at Republic," said Bodden. "The UEC IT team has gained solid credibility with my staff and our key users because they `speak the language' of steel." UEC IT will employ its proven implementation methodology, beginning with the General Design phase. Upon completion, UEC IT and the Republic project team intend to implement the system at Republic's hot mills in Ohio and New York, as well as in its cold finishing facilities.
