Straightline Awarded QS-9000 and ISO CertificationsDemonstrates Straightline's Commitment to Quality Service and Customer SatisfactionPRNewswire-FirstCall Straightline Source, the technology-enabled steel distribution division of United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X), was awarded QS 9000:1998 and ISO 9002:1994 certification, an internationally recognized standard of quality management systems. To achieve certification of its quality systems, Straightline went through a rigorous audit process that involved every department within company headquarters. The independent audit was performed by Steel Related Industries Quality System Registrar, Inc., an accredited QS-9000 third-party assessor based in Wexford, Pa. "We're proud of this accomplishment as it represents Straightline's ability to meet the industry's toughest quality standards," said Bob Dryburgh, president of Straightline. "It further demonstrates our commitment to complete customer satisfaction as well as to continuous improvement and cost reductions in every phase of our operation." QS-9000 defines the quality expectations of DaimlerChrysler, Ford, General Motors, truck manufacturers and others for suppliers of production, service parts and materials. It was developed in 1994 to standardize quality systems, reduce costs and seek continuous improvement from suppliers to the automotive industry. Today, DaimlerChrysler, General Motors and certain Ford locations worldwide require QS-9000 certification for suppliers. "The QS-9000 certification demonstrates that Straightline can deliver quality systems required by the automotive industry and services that will help to reduce supply chain costs," said John Favorite, district manager for Straightline's Michigan region.
