United States Steel Announces New Accounting PostsPRNewswire United States Steel LLC, part of the USX-U. S. Steel Group (NYSE: X), a unit of USX Corporation, announced two appointments in the accounting organization for the anticipated January 1 start-up of United States Steel Corporation. Reporting to Gretchen R. Haggerty, senior vice president & controller, will be Michael J. Hatcher, assistant controller--corporate accounting and Gregory A. Zovko, assistant controller--operations accounting and financial analysis. Michael J. Hatcher, 44, is a native of Richmond, Ind. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in finance from Indiana University. He began his career in 1980 as a financial analyst at Marathon Oil Company in Findlay, Ohio, and two years later became an auditor with the company. In 1985, he transferred to USX headquarters in Pittsburgh as a senior financial representative, was named manager of treasury operations in 1989, and became treasurer of USX Realty Development the following year. In 1994, Hatcher was named director of corporate financial analysis, and returned to Marathon Oil and Findlay in 1996 when he was elected treasurer of that company. He assumed his present position, assistant treasurer--corporate finance, at USX Corporation's Pittsburgh headquarters in 1998. Gregory A. Zovko, 40, is a native of Pittsburgh. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Pennsylvania State University, a master's degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh and a master's degree in tax administration from Duquesne University. He is a Certified Public Accountant. He began his career with U. S. Steel in 1983 at Mon Valley Works, near Pittsburgh, and was promoted through a series of accounting positions there and at Pittsburgh headquarters from 1985 through 1997. He was named manager of accounting for Clairton (Pa.) Works in 1997, manager-- financial analysis, sheet products in 1998 and controller--Mon Valley Works in 1999.
