Srinivasan Named President of Met-Chem Canada, Inc.PRNewswire-FirstCall United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X) today announced the appointment of Subbiah Srinivasan to president & general manager of Met-Chem Canada, Inc., a global consulting engineering company that specializes in mining, metallurgical and mineral processing industries. Headquartered in Montreal, Met-Chem's technical services cover the preparation of studies -- opportunity, conceptual, feasibility and detailed reports -- mine and process audits, basic and detailed engineering, project and construction management, procurement, start- up and commissioning, training and operations. Srinivasan will report to Anthony R. Bridge, President-UEC Technologies, LLC, of which Met-Chem is a wholly owned subsidiary. The appointment was effective September 1. "Subbiah has been primarily responsible for building Met-Chem into an internationally recognized and highly respected consulting engineering company," said Bridge. "This advancement recognizes his contributions to the success of Met-Chem and its contributions to the mining, metallurgical and mineral processing industries." Srinivasan, a native of Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, India, graduated in 1963 with a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Madras, India. He joined Met-Chem in 1976 as a specification engineer and was promoted later that year to Chief Engineer-Planning, Scheduling and Specifications. In 1977, he was appointed Project Manager in the Montreal office for the $600 million Kudremukh Iron Ore project in India. Following various project management and sales responsibilities, he was appointed to General Manager-International in 1989, and promoted to Vice President-International in 1996. In this position he was responsible for the sales, management and execution of all Met-Chem projects outside North America. In 2000, he was appointed to vice president & managing director with overall responsibility for Met-Chem, his most recent position. Srinivasan is immediate past President of The Canada India Business Council and continues to serve on the council's Board. He and his wife, Gladys, live in Montreal, Province of Quebec, Canada.
