U. S. Steel Fairfield Works Ribbon Cutting Ceremony For New Maintenance Training CenterPRNewswire WHAT: U. S. STEEL FAIRFIELD WORKS RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY FOR NEW MAINTENANCE TRAINING CENTER WHERE: FLINTRIDGE TRAINING CENTER 6200 E. J. OLIVER BLVD FAIRFIELD, AL 35064 WHEN: 10:00 A.M. CDT, TUESDAY, JUNE 20, 2006 FAIRFIELD, Ala., June 16, 2006 - United States Steel Corporation's Fairfield Works will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, June 20, to celebrate the opening of its new Maintenance Training Center. The Center occupies 11,000 square feet in the Flintridge Building, which was remodeled to accommodate classrooms and laboratories and to expand an existing in-plant welding lab. Recent changes in the labor market have significantly reduced the availability of qualified maintenance employees in the Birmingham area. The new facility will permit Fairfield Works to develop the skilled workforce critical to the plant's long-term viability and provide lifelong skills to members of the community. Jim Bennett, Alabama Commissioner of Labor, will speak at the ceremony and participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony along with Fairfield Works General Manager Merle Stein. All media are invited to attend. Interview and photo opportunities will be provided. Please arrive by 9:30 a.m. For more information or directions, call Andrew Bissot at 205-783-4595.
