Scherrbaum Named Vice President-Commercial for U. S. Steel Kosice in Slovak RepublicPRNewswire-FirstCall United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X) Chairman Thomas J. Usher today announced the appointment of Joseph R. Scherrbaum, Jr. to the position of vice president-commercial for U. S. Steel Kosice (USSK). In this new position, Scherrbaum, 45, will manage sales, marketing, customer technical service and business planning for all product lines at USSK. The appointment is effective September 1. "Joe Scherrbaum brings valuable sales and marketing experience to this important position," remarked Usher. "He will play a key role in growing U. S. Steel's presence in the European marketplace." Scherrbaum joined U. S. Steel in 1979 at the Lorain-Cuyahoga Works outside Cleveland and held several supervisory positions in production and business planning at the plant. In 1985, he was named senior sales representative at Tulsa, Okla., and later, Atlanta. He became product manager for oil country tubular products at Pittsburgh headquarters in 1989, was named commercial manager in a reorganization of tubular products staff in 1994, and was appointed general manager - tubular products in 1996. In his most recent position, based in Chicago, Scherrbaum was responsible for both marketing and sales to U. S. Steel's service center, electrical, agricultural and industrial equipment customers. Scherrbaum earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, a master's in business administration from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, and attended the Executive Program at the University of Michigan Business School.
