USX Engineers and Consultants, Inc. to Market Smart Screen Systems' Material Screening ProductsPRNewswire USX Engineers and Consultants, Inc. (UEC), a subsidiary of USX Corporation, and Smart Screen Systems, Inc. (S3I) recently signed an agreement giving UEC the exclusive right to market and sell Smart Screen Systems' material screening products worldwide. UEC, an international company that markets and sells technologies which provide significant improvements to manufacturing operations, has an experienced international sales force and a network of alliances and representatives located in key global markets. S3I is a newly formed company that designs and manufactures material screening systems utilizing leading edge technology in vibration and noise control. The benefits of Smart Screen systems include increased productivity, reduced maintenance costs, dramatically lower energy costs, and near elimination of noise and excess vibration. The three major industries that should benefit from these improvements are the mining, pharmaceutical and food processing industries. In addition, any operation that involves the separation of materials by size can profit from the technology. The first Smart Screen system is being installed at Minntac, U. S. Steel's (NYSE: X) taconite mining and pellet production facility in Mt. Iron, Minnesota. Minntac was instrumental in identifying QRDC, Inc., the company that developed the basic technology for other vibration related applications including the technology licensed by S3I. Minntac has been supporting the application and introduction of the technology and Smart Screen systems in the plant. UEC President Chris Navetta said, "UEC is constantly searching for new technologies that will improve our clients' operations. The Smart Screen system, developed by S3I, is an excellent example. This new generation of material screening products will help our customers save energy and reduce production costs." "I'm pleased to have an internationally established technology company like UEC represent S3I in the marketplace," said S3I Chairman, Dr. Daryoush Allaei. "With its global experience, UEC will be able to accelerate the introduction and utilization of this new technology worldwide." Dr. Allaei, who has been active in advance research and technology development, is also CEO of QRDC, Inc. For more information on U. S.
