United States Steel Corporation Names Nancy Sykes Vice President - Human Resources05.13.2015 PITTSBURGH, May 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X) President and Chief Executive Officer Mario Longhi today announced that Nancy Sykes has been named vice president - human resources. In this position, she will be responsible for all facets of the company's human resources, as well as medical and health services. Sykes will be based at the company's Pittsburgh headquarters and will join the company's executive management team. "I am pleased to welcome Nancy to U. S. Sykes was most recently at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, where she started as vice president, talent management before moving to China in her current role of vice president, human resources Asia-Pacific in October 2012. While at Goodyear she led the Asia-Pacific human resources function for more than 10,000 employees in twelve countries with seven manufacturing locations. In Asia-Pacific, her activities focused on building the team required to grow the business. In her prior role, Sykes led activities focused on establishing and improving global processes for performance management, succession planning, compensation, talent acquisition, associate engagement, learning and development and HR information systems. Prior to joining Goodyear in 2009, Sykes was at General Electric for more than 20 years. She began her career in manufacturing operations before moving into human resources, where she held a series of increasingly responsible positions in multiple business units. While at GE, Sykes implemented a number of organizational design programs, acquisitions and divestitures, talent acquisitions, succession planning, and performance management activities. Sykes earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
